Roof Details - Blackhouse, Lewis, Scotland
The traditional approach to roofing the blackhouse (croft) was to place layer of turf over the wooden framework and then cover with hay/straw. This was then tied down with old fishing nets and the ropes and stones keep this in place.
Makes a nice photo, I think
